Camping Trip

We went camping/rock hunting on the 26th of June. We went to Douglas Pass in Colorado. It was so pretty up there. And when I say up there, I mean UP there. We were up at the tippity top of the highest mountain that was in sight. The picture just doesn't do it justice. It was awesome! And it was the perfect temperature too. It was still hot but there was always a perfect cool breeze. So in the shade it was just right.
The drive was a little long (6 hours). Avrie did great on the way up and on the way back she did well for most of it. I was surprised.
The first picture is of the kids in the little sand pit at the Dinosaur museum in Price, UT. It was small but it was a good pit stop on the way up.
The kids got so dirty up there (notice Brockston's face). The dirt was just very dry and powdery. They kept digging up the dirt and making homes for the ants. When we got home I gave them individual baths and the water was un-real! Even Avrie, who I thought stayed the cleanest was filthy.
But we had a good time and, of course, part of rock hunting is finding lizards. No trip is complete without one. So we got pics of him on every one's shoulder. Even baby Avrie! (can you see the big scratch she gave herself right under her eye?) Glade caught this one but awhile after they let this one go, Paige caught one all by herself! Impressive! Everything that they would find (lizards, grasshoppers, caterpillars etc.) they would ask if we could take it home and keep it as a pet. Oh if only we could.
