Remember when I had 2 kids?
Those were the days of organization, sanity and long hair.

So I chopped off my hair! I took this picture myself cuz no one else is here except Avrie.
So, it's broken!I took her to see Dr. Bitner and he looked at the x-rays they took at the hospital and he saw a tiny fracture that they missed. Figures.
They asked her what her favorite color was and she said Black. The nurse and Dr. Bitner said, to pick a different one because Black would be too hot, so she chose light blue (obviously). No pink for this girl!
She has to wear this for 2 1/2 more weeks and they will x-ray it again and if it looks good, they will give her a cast that I can take off when she bathes or swims.
This is a challenge for McKinley because we just set up our pool and I don't want her to even get the bag that I cover it with wet. So she has been a delight when we go outside!! And it's not like we can get mad at her..."Well, if you would have been more careful and not broken your thumb..." But we do get after her for complaining. Ahhhh! The joys of motherhood.
We just signed it last night and I put glitter on my name and Glade drew a trilobite.
Today was McKinley's first emergency room visit. She was just playing and dislocated her thumb. I was so cool and calm on the outside but I was freaking out on the inside. I called Val and told him that McKinley had dislocated her thumb and that I was leaving and could he come over. I left Avrie with Paige and Brockston was playing the computer. She screamed when it happened but I was able to calm her down and she just kinda cried faintly. She was amazed at the position of her thumb but not enough to keep herThey took some x rays and sure enough, it was dislocated. (I should be a doctor) So they pinned her down to give her the numbing shot and she cried harder for that then the actual dislocation. Once that kicked in, he could put it back in place without pain. (I know what those shots feel like and it feels like molasses going in, and it burns like fire.) She was great after the shot.
He put it back in place and put a splint on it that she has to keep on for 7 - 10 days. Then she has to see an orthopedic surgeon to make sure it is healing properly. She tore her joint cup or something like that...joint something...so she may need like physical therapy. Crazy!
This wasn't exactly how I pictured spending part of my day, but it was a change of pace. And of course she had to do it on a Saturday so we had to go to the ER. I was actually very impressed at how well she handled the pain. She must have high pain tolerance. She gets it from me of course!
This is a short clip because the phone rang, but she got her 2 bits in just in time! See if you can tell what the kids were watching on tv.
